Art and the act of creating has always been so much more than just a hobby to me. It is my passion, part of my everyday being and of who I am.
Born in Caerphilly, I moved to Newport, South Wales at a young age and last year graduated with first class honours in Illustration from Cardiff School of Art & Design, after attending Coleg Gwent and gaining an A-grade in Art & Design at A-level.
During my final year of university I embarked on several exciting projects, including exhibiting work at the ‘Creative Exchange’ exhibition, which took place on Cardiff High Street, as well as organising a pop-up event to act as a platform for creatives across Cardiff, after successfully being awarded the ‘Student Experience Fund’.
The event was filmed by ‘Made in Cardiff TV’ and included readings and contributions from student’s pursuing various paths, from PhD philosophy students, to fine art masters students, as well as creative writing undergraduates from various campuses.
Prior to this, my work was selected to be included in the Kaplan Law School calendar 2014, whilst during 2012 I took part in ‘The Sketchbook Project’, contributing a sketchbook of illustrations which is now archived in the Brooklyn Art Library, New York.
Earlier this year my work was displayed in Y Galeri Caerffili 2017 Winter Exhibition, after my graphite/oil piece titled ‘One For Sorrow’ was selected to appear alongside other local artist’s work and won ‘highly commended’.
Most recently my work was selected to be part of The Penarth Pier Pavilion Open Art Exhibition 2017.
I learnt to sew as a child and for several years, in addition to pursuing my passion for art and illustration, I have been designing and creating unique clothing, giving new life to recycled/upcycled materials.
